87002 gets to Padd, Thursday Sep 20th 2018

87002 made it London Paddington with the Port Talbot - Paddington leg of GBRf's epic 4 day "t;Out of the Ordinary" railtour.

This is London terminal number 5 for the class following on from Euston, Kings X, St Pancras and Liverpool St in earlier years.

Matthew Dodd who took these excellent phots commentated

"87002 at London Paddington after a storming run from Didcot Parkway. Speeds of 102-105 mph reported! We were booked

main line all the way, however a dropper issue had meant the mains had been blocked to electric traction. The train ran down the

reliefs and crossed on a rare-ish crossover country side of Reading, with a London bound HST held for us to pass. Needless to

say the HST didnt see the tail lamp of our tour! Utterly hellfire"

Isambard was apparently muttering "much better than a Skoda" during 87002's brief stay at the blocks at Padd!
