WCML class 319's

Class 319's have been regular visitors to the WCML locally and now after a lousy start they are becoming established on a few Monday - Friday peak hour services. The LM fleet in mid April 2016 stood at 6 with 319013/216/429/441/457/460 in service with 319455 expected prior to the May timetable change.

319's first visited our area en route to Wolverton works for the first of many new liveries with the "graffiti" livery replacing the NSE livery in the early 90's. By 1997 "Connex South Central's" new Brighton - Rugby  brought an hourly service from the Southern via the West London line utilising the dual voltage capability of these BREL York built units. Thameslink drags due to the 2005 blockades saw them pass with 47 haulage!

The "Connex" service suffered from crew shortages and by Dec 2001 the service only worked to Watford Jn. Govia replaced Connex not long after this, but through services from East Croydon to the North of Watford did not return until February 2009 with 377 dual voltage units

The remaining 7 strong LM Class 321's were transferred to pastures new in Sep 2015 with the 319's replacing them from October 2015. Will the fleet expand beyond 7 on LM?, time will tell?, Personally as they don’t have the long WCML history, they can never be as good as our much missed 321's, so they will never rated much, but at least add a bit of much needed variety
