The class 25'0's remembered

BR Darlington built 25001 - 25025 (initially 5151-5175) were delivered new to

Thornaby depot from April 61-62. By 1973/4 most had migrated to Tinsley depot

before a mass migration to Eastfield and later Haymarket  by Aug 75.

Withdrawls started in 1976 but a good few survived in Scotland until 1980.

They then returned South to Swindon Works for the final cut.  

 

Known local turns

Being allocated to the likes of TI, ED and HA they were always rare birds locally with just a handfull of

confirmed local workings to date.

Usually in just one's or two's on shed, the exception was Tinsley on Sunday

August 25th 1974 with 25004 25013, 25014, 25018, 25021, 25025 present, thats

over a quarter of the fleet.
